silver lining

So for those of you who follow me on Twitter and FB, you know that my mother and step father were in a very bad car accident on Saturday night - hit head-on by a drunk driver. I have literally been living at the hospital for the last week and running my little brothers to and from school. I was finally able to stop by my house yesterday, get fresh clothes, shower and get my laptop (feeling a little more human today).

My mother broke her collarbone, wrist, and two ribs. She also dislocated her shoulder and had a collapsed lung and a hole her in lung. Yesterday's xrays showed her lung was collapsing again, which is why she went back on the breathing tube.

My step father has a broken hip and hand. He will be staying her for hip rehab.

I know some of the photos are horrific, but I thought I would share just a couple.

Yesterday was a good day for my mom, but today her spirits were down and she's back in bed, hardly moving around. But that's okay, because I remind her everyday about her Silver Lining:
She's alive because God intended her to be. She's here because she's a testimony in the making. She's an inspiration because over 400 people have called, stopped by, sent gifts and have been praying for her. She's strengthening others' faith, families and churches.

Everything happens for a reason. At first I was so angry and sad but I'm working on a new perspective. I'm watching people come together, prayer warriors lifting up hundreds of prayers, pastors venturing into the hospital and touching other lives, not just our familys'.

Continue to pray as we would love to have them both home and well.
And thank you; your love means a lot to me and my family.

I wish you all luck and the best Amber. Was the driver arrested? I really hope so.

I actually came by to let you know I grab your button. I hope everything goes well. Hang in there!
